Ordnance is military hardware.

The diverse landscapes of the 48 contiguous United States share one common feature – guns. This series is a portrait of America as a land of guns, particularly artillery. It was conceived two years before the mass shooting at Colombine High School in 1999, so the iconic field pieces ornamenting America’s parks, neighborhoods, historic sites, military installations and cemeteries – not rifles and handguns – were the original subjects of this study. This blog contains at least one representative piece from each of the contiguous forty-eight states.

Thank you for visiting, please explore the portfolio.

This project began on film and continues with digital capture.
